A line along the sideboard

Three different silhouettes make a low, horizontal arrangement.

Original scene illustration: A line along the sideboard
Illustrated concept, not a photograph or a scale drawing. Choose a dry sideboard that is not beside a heater and does not need to carry hot dishes.

Why this arrangement works

Different outlines give the line rhythm. Unequal spacing is more useful here than adding more ornaments.

Adjust it to your space

Keep the background simple and leave nearby everyday items accessible instead of hiding them behind the fruit.

Put it together

  1. 01

Clear a short section and lay a washable runner.

  2. 02

Place the small tan pumpkin slightly off centre.

  3. 03

Set a small green pumpkin at one end and a mini white pumpkin at the other.

  4. 04

Leave unequal gaps so the line does not feel like a row of identical ornaments.

  5. 05

Check the undersides and move the display before serving hot dishes.

Make it your own

Use a plain folded cloth instead of a runner.

Keep just the tan and white fruit if the surface is short.

Keep it looking good

Keep the display sheltered and away from direct sun. Check for soft spots, leakage and unstable placement. Remove damaged fruit promptly; painted or carved display fruit is not for eating.
